He’s going to witness real October baseball in 2017.
Keith Hernandez will be doing studio work for Fox during the MLB playoffs, according to a source.
The former Mets first baseman and member of the 1986 World Series team is replacing Pete Rose, who Fox fired in August after over reports of alleged sexual misconduct.
Hernandez joins former SNY reporter Kevin Burkhardt, Alex Rodriguez and Frank Thomas to round out the studio team.
At the end of SNY’s broadcast of game 162 on Sunday, Gary Cohen and Hernandez started up the rumor mill.
They signed off for the 12th straight season together by teasing some sort of Mets announcement that they said would come Monday.
“Stay tuned tomorrow. Just keep your ears up,” Cohen said while smirking and pointing to Hernandez. “He’s an important guy.”
